A great book of how to care for Bearded dragons!

The Bearded Dragon Manual, By Vosjoli

Habitat

Cage

A ten gallon aquarium is good for a baby bearded dragon.

I got a 50 gallon long terrarium (48"x18"x13") from Glass Cages When he got to big for the small tank.

Heat lamp

Needs to be about 13 inches from bottom of tank. Temperature needs to be in between 90 -100 degrees F at basking spot.  At night it can drop no lower than 60 degrees F   We keep ours around 70-80 degrees F at night.

UVB bulb

UVB bulbs are very very important they cost around $25 but they help your bearded dragon keep it's color, and it gives them vitamin D which is very important. If your bearded dragon does not have vitamin D it can die.

Substrate

Use Paper towel when they are small.

Use sand when they're 6 months old.

Food

NO ICEBERG LETTUCE!  It can kill your lizard!!!!!!

NO FIREFLIES! They will poison your lizard, and it WILL die!!!!!!

Veggies

They can eat mustard greens, cilantro, kiwi, bannana, watermelon, kale, collard greens, corn, sweet potato, melon, apple, papaya, and berries.

Crickets

Crickets must be smaller than in between dragon's eyes. Dust the crickets with cricket dust (we use a blend of calcium dust and multivitamin) before feeding. Remove crickets before bed time, or they will nibble on your dragon!

Mealworms

Do not feed meal worms to baby bearded dragons-- only for adults. Meal worms are more of a snack then a meal.  Try to pick the worms with freshly shedded shells. Too many hard shelled worms can lead to compaction in the intestine according to the "book", but we've seen no issues when feeding them sparingly.

Wax worms

Do not feed wax worms to baby bearded dragons-- only for adults. Wax worms are more of a snack then a meal.

Superworms

Do not feed super worms to baby bearded dragons-- only for adults. Super worms can be fed as MAIN MEAL!!

Pinkies

Bearded Dragons once 1 year old can eat pinky mice feed 1 or 2 daily.  Some sites recommend against feeding pinkies. We've not fed ours any yet.

Suppliments

Calcium (cricket dust)

Cricket dust is very important it gives your lizard calcium we use herp care cricket dust.

Vitamins

Vitamins are also important they help keep your bearded dragon. We use Herpitivite multivitamins.

Medicine

If your  dragon is lazy or then normal or when lizard is looking drowsy try contacting pet smart. Some times it might be that your lizard is going in hibernation. They usually do this when they're over 6 months.
